In Mexico resistance from indigenous communities is centuries old, but has increased in the last decades, especially in areas like the Tarahumara Range in Chihuahua. Defenders of their land and natural resources there are being murdered and their communities displaced by groups linked to drug trafficking (who also work with legal and illegal logging), mining projects and the Government’s indifference. The reality of Tarahumara is portrayed through the story of the Raramuri community of Coloradas de la Virgen and one of its leaders: Julian Carrillo, murdered on October 24, 2018.
